Three months is enough time to move an SAT score meaningfully — typically 100–200+ points — if the time is structured. Here is the plan we recommend, condensed from what works with our students.
Weeks 1–2: Diagnose and set a target
- Take a full-length, timed digital practice test under real conditions. No pausing, no music, real breaks.
- Categorize every miss: content gap, careless error, or time pressure. These need different fixes.
- Set a target score based on the colleges on your list, and work out the section scores that add up to it.
Weeks 3–6: Build skills by category
- Attack your two weakest categories first — that's where points are cheapest.
- Math: master linear equations, systems, and quadratics before touching the exotic topics; they're the bulk of the test.
- Reading & Writing: drill vocabulary-in-context and transition questions daily; they're frequent and learnable.
- Learn the built-in Desmos calculator until it's second nature.
- Study 45–60 minutes a day, 5–6 days a week. Consistency beats weekend cramming.
Weeks 7–10: Practice tests and review cycles
- One full-length timed test every week or two, always at the same time of day as your real test.
- Spend as long reviewing a test as you spent taking it. Every miss gets a written one-line explanation of the correct approach.
- Track your error log — recurring mistake types are your remaining study list.
Weeks 11–12: Sharpen and taper
- Final full-length test 10–14 days out; light targeted review after that.
- Last week: short daily sessions, review your error log, and lock in sleep. No new content in the final 3 days.
- Do a dry run of test-day logistics: ID, admission ticket, charged device, and the drive to your test center.
